Autumn 2022 | Chair’s Report

I would like to introduce myself; my name is Lucy Dumbrell and I have just taken over the position of Chair at the Fen Edge Community Association (FECA). Our previous Chair, Neil Gough, stood down after six productive years at the helm. I would like to thank Neil for his amazing hard work with FECA, including doubling the membership within this time – these are large shoes to fill, and I hope to do you and our members proud!
As I am writing this, we have just enjoyed all that the Fen Edge Festival has to offer – what an amazing event this was! The FEF22 committee have been working flat-out to ensure the festival was the best it possibly could be – this is no mean feat as they are all volunteers with their own busy lives to lead – well done you awesome bunch!
Let’s go back to basics – what is FECA? It is based on the catchment area of Cottenham Village College (the Fen Edge Patch). It is a charity run by volunteer trustees who raise money from community events like the Fen Edge Festival and the Cottenham Fun Run, and generating funds from our loyal advertisers in the Fen Edge News to benefit our members.

We currently have 70+ member organisations from the patch – Cottenham, Willingham, Waterbeach, Landbeach and Rampton. These groups range from the Guides, Willingham Wheels, Rampton Horseshow to name a few. It’s £15 per year to join, this gives members the opportunity to communicate with the 7,500+ households in the patch via the Fen Edge News plus the opportunity to apply for grants from the money raised by the Association. We are always looking for new members so please do contact me if you have any questions.

The committee and I are looking at new ways to raise money and run community events – maybe a new event might pop up in the not-so-distant future.
Community and fund raising are at the heart of all we do, and we would love you to be a part of it too!
Many thanks
Lucy
