Cottenham & District Ploughing Society

Cottenham & District Ploughing Society is believed to be one of the oldest ploughing societies in the country with the first match held in 1842, with 12 horse drawn ploughs competing against each other.

The annual ploughing match is held on the first Saturday in October when around 50 ploughmen compete in various classes of tractor and plough.

Each ploughman will have a small marked plot of land to plough within a time period, with the ploughing judged on the start, straightness, uniformity and finish. Spectators are always welcome and refreshments available.
