Cottenham Feast Parade
Get your pennies (or Pounds!) ready for Cottenham Feast Parade on Sunday 16th October when, with luck, the sun will shine on the procession of floats and local groups – motorised and on foot – that will make its way from the Brookfield Business Centre up the High Street to the Village Green, from about 2pm.
One of the floats to watch for is that of Cottenham WI which this year celebrates its 90th birthday. The group has always been imaginative with themes and this year’s will be Shakespeare, marking the birth of the playwright 400 years ago.
As is the tradition, representatives of the many local groups taking part will have collection boxes, and the money raised will be distributed to non-profit organisations in the village. Apply to be included in the handout by emailing a request for funds to juliepercival88@yahoo.co.uk or by writing to Julie Percival at 183 Coolidge Gardens, Cottenham CB24 8RH.
There will be a fair on the green as well as a variety of stalls. From 1.30pm to 3.30pm Cottenham Brass Band will be in fine tune, to ensure the afternoon goes with a swing. Enjoy the day! It’s a village treat.
