Landbeach tithe barn – Have you met our Carpenter & Thatcher yet?

The urgent repair works to the unique Grade II listed Tithe Barn in Landbeach, near
Cambridge, are cracking on.

Visitors to the Tithe Barn this autumn relished the opportunity to meet our skilled
craftsmen
working on the restoration works. Through free talks and demos by our
Carpenter and Thatcher, visitors were able to learn about how we are sensitively
repairing and restoring the timber frame, thatched Tithe Barn.

Visitor feedback included “It was great to be allowed to climb up on the scaffold to
get so close to the old thatch and appreciate the work the thatcher has to do”
, “A
true craftsman and very informative” and
“A privilege to have had this opportunity”.
We have released a final further two ‘Meet the Thatcher’ and ‘Meet the Carpenter’
FREE event dates this December and January.

Volunteer
Maggie Stephens says “I volunteer for the Tithe Barn Trust as I feel it is
very important to save this wonderful building for the community and for future
generations.
I enjoy participating in the barn open days and meeting our visitors. It is
also a privilege to work with such a dedicated group of volunteers.”
