Very Late 2020 Virtual Cottenham Fun Run Category Winners

The Very Late 2020 Virtual 7k Cottenham Fun Run finally took place over the Bank Holiday weekend with a total of 93 runners taking to the streets to record a time over 7km using any route of their choosing. Despite the freedom that a virtual event allows many of the entrants decided to uphold the tradition of this event by taking on the original route, including the overall winner Finn Johnson who took first place for the fifth time in a row. Finn’s sister Mara took first place in the Senior Female category and with a third place for Barbara Johnson in the Veteran Female category, it was a good day all round for the Johnson family once again.

In the Male Junior Category, first place went to Nathan Runyon with an outstanding time of 29 minutes 46 seconds which saw him finish just outside the overall top ten and in the Female Junior category, Charlotte Bridger was first with another outstanding time of 33 minutes 24 seconds and 24th place overall.

Notwithstanding the impressive times recorded by the leading runners, this event has always placed the emphasis firmly on being fun and open to all abilities and to highlight this fact, an age gap of some 80 years separated the youngest and the oldest entrants. Perfectly fitting perhaps that the oldest competitor was Jasper Kay, the man who conceived of and for many years organised and ran the Cottenham Fun Run.

Thanks to everyone that took part and fingers crossed that we can do it for real next year.
