Wander and Ponder around Cottenham
Walking around Cottenham and chatting as you go, is the idea behind a new weekly walking group. The aim of the gentle, short walk is to bring together people with less mobility or anyone in need of friendly support and company.
At 11am every Tuesday, the group will meet at Cottenham Library, on Margett Street. The walk leader, Claire Perrott, will suggest a topic of conversation – it might be the plot of a book, something related to a local happening, a famous person or a new initiative – and the stroll will begin.
The free walks – there are others in Histon, Mill Road, Chesterton, Addenbrooke’s and Abbey Road – are part of the Walk Local programme funded through Cambridgeshire County Council and managed by Sustrans, the charity that leads the way in promoting the health-giving rewards of cycling and walking in town and country.
Cottenham Library is supporting the new activity, which hopefully will make people more aware of the valuable services they offer to all.
