Cottenham Cares Concert – Saturday 9th June 2018
Cottenham Cares will be holding a concert to raise funds for Médecins sans Frontières and Save the Children. It will take place on Saturday 9th June at 7.30 pm in All Saints’ Parish Church Cottenham.
Professional viol players Jonathan Rees and Emily Ashton will give a concert introducing listeners to the wonderful and diverse music written for the viol (also known as ‘viola da gamba’) over the last 500 years. Including music from England, France, Germany and beyond, they will explore the repertoire from the height of the viol’s popularity in the seventeenth century right through to music written in the present day after the revival of the instrument in the twentieth century. Expect an entertaining and informative evening, with plenty of stories and a real variety of music!
The concert last year, also put together by Emily Ashton for Cottenham Cares and these charities, was stunning and we expect this to be another enlightening and delightful evening.
